Out-of-office message for a half day.

Five templates for the half-day OOO — morning out, afternoon out, doctor appointment, school pickup, or just a few hours offline. Copy, edit, paste.

Quick answer

Half-day OOO messages should specify the exact return time ('back online at 2pm'), name a backup contact for genuine urgent matters, and avoid over-explaining. Five templates below cover the most common scenarios.

→ The mechanical fix

Even half-day absences need routing.

Some emergencies don't wait 4 hours. Routing handles them while you're at the dentist.
